Thursday June 15th we woke up in Wyoming at our Rest Stop had a quick breakfast, bathroom break, and then we hit the road again. While David and DC walked to the bathroom on their way back, DC fell and started to cry.. a really nice guy with his dog walked over and asked DC if he wanted to pet his dog, of course he obliged as he loves animals! The nice man told us he was headed to MT to work at a camp for a month with his family. We also told him that we were headed to Billings to see family.
Around 3:30 we arrived at Pioneer Park, in Billings, to meet up with Mel's cousin Rebecca, her husband Matt and their 2 sons. While we were chatting we asked Matt and Rebecca what to see for a quick visit to Yellowstone and they recommended we visit Mammoth Hot Spring. DC had a great time playing with cousins Zander and Silas. Daniel was very interested in eating grass/ playing with Rebecca! Although it was a brief visit it was super nice to take a break from driving and visit with them for a little bit.
With the feedback we received from numerous people, we decided last minute to visit Yellow Stone, even though it would be getting dark by the time we arrived. We are so glad we decided to go, as shortly after entering Yellowstone we saw an Antelope, then we went through many twists and curvy roads until we reached the Town Center just before we arrived at Mammoth Hot Spring were we saw an Elk. At 1st I thought it was a statue, then he moved his head and neck and started to walk I screamed in excitment! It was a real freaking ELK Y'all!!!!! After our short 1 hour visit in Yellowstone we decided this is definitely a place we want to spend at least a week at!
As we were driving into Yellowstone we spotted Yellowstone Hot Springs RV Park. I thought I would check last minute if they had anymore sites available for the night and they did!!!! We got the very last back in site, this saved us driving another hour late at night and allowed us to rest up well for the remainder of the trip. It really was a super nice place to park and sleep, right next to the river. The bathrooms were nice and being remodeled! When we go back, we plan to visit the Hot Spring Pool! :) This was our 1st RV park that we parked at, and it was definitely refreshing!!!!
When we were leaving Cowboys Breakfast, we passed the Rodeo and actually saw a REAL COWBOY!! We had so many cool experiences in such a relatively short period of time. If you are thinking of visiting Yellowstone, DO IT! You won't be disappointed! Stay tuned for more adventures with us!!!!
