What an adventure June 26th was for our family. From hiking inside of Antelope Canyon X, visiting Horseshoe Bend and then booking an RV site inside of The Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim) for the night. It was an incredible day of memories made! We arrived pretty late to The Grand Canyon, upon arrival we checked in at The Yavapai Lodge to get our parking site information and recommendations on quick places to see before we head to our next destination. While I was getting the boys ready for bed, David got us hooked up with Electric and snapped a couple photos of the beautiful starry sky with our Van named Ellie!
When we woke up the next morning we had breakfast, then we drove over towards Bright Angel Trail. Once we found parking near the Maswik Lodge we walked towards the trailhead. While walking we heard The Grand Canyon Train coming, we decided to stop so we could see the train! What a cool experience as the train only runs once a day. We plan to come back and do the train ride when the boys are older.
Once the train stopped we continued toward the trailhead which was a short distance further. When we arrived to the start of the trailhead, their was a cute friendly squirrel that was hanging out. Then I looked at a part of the trail and noticed people riding mules! I had no idea that at The Grand Canyon has daily mule rides! It was really cool to see!!
David and DC decided to walk part of the trail down to the "tunnel" and back while Daniel and I sat at the top under a small shaded area. Daniel took a short nap. Once the boys got back from their hike we ate lunch at The Maswik Lodge per recommendations from one of the Park workers. What we really loved about The Grand Canyon was how friendly everyone was that worked there!!! Their was one guy we talked to who recommended The Maswik for lunch, said "He has had 29 great years working there!" After a nice lunch we headed to The Gift Shop to get a few things, which completed our Grand Canyon Experience. On our way into The Grand Canyon their was a really cute Tourist Trap attraction that I was hoping we could stop at on our way out, so we decided to pay it a visit as we were leaving. It was a Rock Shop (reminded me of Alex Glenn) and a Gas Station. It was a very cool place to visit! Another random thing we noticed on this trip was our bag of Annie's Cheesy Smiles that we kept sealed would balloon up as we gained in elevation. It was fun to watch! If you've followed our blogs where do you think we are headed next?! Stay tuned to find out!!!
